Okay guys, I got this off of another forum that I am a part of and since a few people were talking about this on the shoutbox I thought I'd post it as a blog.

Nothing below this line was written by me, I copied it word for word from a different website

So. Are you ready for a Zombie Apocalypse?

Over the years there have been tons of movies about zombies and many, many games.

Back to some of the Classics like Night of the Living Dead to the more modern, Resident Evil, 28 Days later or I am Legend.

The question remains, are you prepared?

I recently decided to get me a new gun for home defense and in my mind there was only one choice, a 12 gauge shotgun.  Why? Well besides being unmatched in home defense, it is also the best zombie killing weapon out there.  Anyone who has played Left 4 Dead knows this.

This is a pic of the gun I am getting (this is not my couch.  Although Sirgurd said he has the exact couch)

Back to the point.

When the Zombie outbreak comes, what kind will it be and what will you do?

If the outbreak is like Shaun of the Dead, I suppose a cricket racket will suffice.  Maybe even a golf club.  But if the bastards are like the Zombies in I am Legend you better bring a shotgun, a pistol and maybe a chainsaw.  If they are like the Zombies in 28 days later, you better bring a face shield, gloves and mouth guard.

I would probably be safe for a short time since I live in the suburbs, not really high density but the closest grocery store to raid is 3 or 4 miles away.  Between my house and those stores are many fairly large subdivisions.  The nearest gun shop to replenish my ammo supply is about 5 miles away.  The fire department and local police department are only a mile away.  Since my house is wood framed and has windows all over the place, I couldn't really build a safe room to guard against those pesky brain seekers so I would end up having to leave.

One of the pluses I have is where I live and my fanatic approach to planning. I have a full blow super survival hurricane kit houses in the largest Pelican case on wheels made.  At the first sign of the zombie rush, I can grab my gun, dogs, survival kit, emergency clothes bag and a few 5 gallons jugs of water from my garage and haul ass.  I also have 2 spare 20 lbs cans of propane and a table top double burner in a carrying case that I would grab as long as I don't have a scene like in 28 WEEKS later when they let the boy in their cottage.

Also located inside my survival kit is a Woodman's Pal machete. This will serve not only to help clear trees from the road but also help quickly dispatch those close quarter zombies moving in for a quick bite of a genius brain.

Once I get through the first few days to a week of zombie carnage, hopefully I will still be alive and not missing any limbs (ala Evil Dead).  I would then enact my well throughout Zombie escape plan.  See, in watching all these zombie movie and taking meticulous notes, I have found the weaknesses in their plans.  First, once you get in a secure, protected area, don't let anyone in unless they are first quarantined for at least a week.  Second, they always seem to stay in population center or the country side with roaming zombie farmers.

My plan would be to load up my truck and make a beeline for the East coast of Florida to Port Canaveral.  There they have several ocean liners.  Now just like in the movies, most likely I will be able to contact someone on the radio and it would be like this:

Ship Captain - "Hey, we have this ship"

Me - "OK, cool"

Captain - "We are going to be leaving out to sea to protect ourselves"

Me - "Ok, cool"

Captain - "But we are leaving in 24 hrs"

Me - "Ok, co...wait!! not cool."

Captain - "You have 24 hrs to get here before"

Me - "well what if I'm a little late"

Captain - "No more ship. And no more hel0"

So now is panic time. I don my leather vest and pants, put on my Circa 1981 watch, and set the gigantic timer to a 24 hr countdown.  And since I haven't been able to see out of my left eye in almost year I'll put my eye patch on and my alter ego kicks in.

I only have 24 hours to ESCAPE FROM ORLANDO!!

Anyone else thought this through like me?
